Food Sovereignty

  • Pottsville Beach Community Hall 1 Tweed Coast Road Pottsville, NSW, 2489 Australia (map)

ABOUT

Essential for our times where caring for country is of paramount importance, we invite you to this lively and information sharing panel discussion & networking opportunity with our Tweed food community, a Savour The Tweed initiative supported by Tweed Tourism, bringing together an extraordinary line up of talent of food heroes as panel speakers with the conversation moderated by food advocate Magdalena Roze.

  • Kyle Slabb, Banaam Alliance, First Nations voice for native food sovereignty

  • Josh Lewis, wild catch fisherman, New Moon Fishing & chef, La Casita

  • Rachael Sanderson, Raven Place Farm, ecosystem protection

  • Georgie Goddard, Locavore & Brooklet Springs Farm, ethical supply of native, wild and farmed meats

  • Michele Stephen’s, Farm & Co, organic regenerative farmer

  • Pam Brook, Brook Farm, trailblazer & industry leader

  • Sam Saulwick, The Bread Social, early adopter of organic and Australian ingredients

Conversations will dive into the provenance of our food sources, building better food systems, land management & regenerative practices - farming, fishing, hunting & foraging, how sustainability shapes our menus and food choices, and the growing trend towards non-invasive species.

There’s a short interval in the middle of the session to chat with everybody and enjoy the snack pack of locally sourced goodies - sushi rolls from Konoha (Pottsville), can of coffee from The Kind Coffee Co (Murwillumbah) and natural fruit juice from the Fruit Cartel (Murwillumbah).
